How to Increase your Child's Intelligence & Focus

Can intelligence be increased?  Isn’t it all determined by our genes?  If IQ can be raised, what can parents do to nurture a brighter child?

Intelligence is a serious topic, and for many good reasons.  Many studies have been conducted to understand the importance of IQ in our lives.  For example, a person’s IQ score has been associated with his educational outcome, work performance and even income.

Intelligence can be increased!  Yes, our genes do determine a large part of our intellectual ability but research is increasingly showing the powerful impact of the environment in shaping our brains, especially at an early age.  Many factors throughout our lives affect our IQ, and conversely, our IQ can greatly affect the outcome of our lives.

Besides, children these days are becoming more connected but less attentive in our highly wired environment.  Children with high IQ may not perform well academically due to their poor focus. In order to help children develop stronger focus, we first need to understand why some children focus easily while others struggle to pay attention. Questions related to attention and focus are some of the most common concerns amongst parents today. When a child is short on focus, parents often blame it on a lack of motivation or poor attention span. However, this may not always be the case.
